About US:
The National Building Review Board is a government agency under the Ministry of Works and Transport established by the Building Control Act, 2013. The Board is mandated to monitor building developments; ensure that the design and construction of buildings and utilities to which the public is to have access cater for persons with disabilities; oversee, inspect and monitor the operations of Building Committees; hear and determine appeals from persons dissatisfied with the decisions of a Building Committee; and to determine the fees to be charged by urban and district building committees for approval of plans, issue of building permits and occupation permits.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning, budgeting and reporting on the activities of the department
- Participate in the development of the NBRB ICT and data management Policy
- Lead and monitor the installation, maintenance and capacity planning of NBRB’s network infrastructure in order to meet NBRB network availability requirements
- Responsible for monitoring the availability of Communication services delivered over the NBRB network Infrastructure to meet Business requirements
- Responsible for monitoring and evaluating risks associated with ICT infrastructure in order to meet NBRB availability requirements and comply with ICT policy
- Plan and manage the performance and development of staff under supervision so as to improve their productivity
- Implement & maintain an information technology security architecture commensurate with international Standards to reduce risks to the IT assets that complies with the organizations corporate strategy.
- Develop and align the Software Development Strategy/Plan to business needs to provide direction to the development team.
- Lead System Design and Conceptualization processes to leverage existing technologies, engender reusability and build upon alignment to IT strategic direction
- Profile and manage communications and Stakeholder interests so as to build and sustain suitable working relations
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant for the National Building Review Board Senior IT Officer job placement must hold a Masters’ Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics (Computing option), Engineering or related field from a recognized academic institution
- A Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in either; Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics with computing, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering
- Professional certification such as; ITIL, Cisco and Microsoft courses, Virtualization Certifications and SAN Certifications
- At least FIVE (05) years’ experience, TWO of which must have been at supervisory level managing large corporate networks, mixed protocol environment and Business continuity planning techniques
- Demonstrated experience working in a leadership role in an organization/business unit/project with diverse professionals.
Added Advantage
- Professional certifications in; Communication Network, ICT Security, IT Service Management, or Business Continuity Planning
- Good knowledge of the NBRB ICT Policy, ITIL standards and relevant network administration manuals.
Character and Competencies

- Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design;
- Good organisational skills;
