National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Senior Program Developer will develop and supervise the implementation and maintenance of applications for supporting business operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs and writes applications for both in-house and proprietary applications as may be assigned from time to time.
- Carries out tests and quality assurance of in-house and proprietary applications as may be assigned from time to time.
- Keeps track and manages version control of in-house developed applications.
- Develops, maintains, and keeps all documentation and software code of all in¬house applications.
- Provides technical support relating to the use of in-house developed applications.
- Participates actively in the analysis and development of functional requirements for identified business processes.
- To identify any risk(s) noted during the course of execution of your duties and formally report to the immediate supervisor
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the National Medical Stores (NMS) Senior Program Developer job must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Computer Science, Information Technology, Business and Information Technology, Business Computing, Information Systems or equivalent computer science.
- At least three years of post-qualification experience in a technology-intensive enterprise.
- Experience of working with integrated development environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, NetBeans, etc.
- Previous experience of working with popular database management systems such as MySQL server, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle etc.
- Use of Microsoft Project and or related project management software.
- Programming experience with common languages such as VB.Net, C#, C++, Java, PHP, etc.
- Experience of developing SQL queries.
