Job Summary:

Serena Hotel Kampala seeks three qualified individuals for the position of Talent Manager, responsible for identifying, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive talent development programs. These programs ensure continuous growth and skill improvement aligned with organizational goals and the Serena Academy, enhancing our associates’ ability to deliver top-notch services while maintaining Serena’s brand reputation and excellence.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Align talent development strategies with departmental goals and overall unit objectives in collaboration with the unit Human Resource Manager, General Manager, and Department Heads.
  • Implement the Serena Academy, Talent Development, Leadership programs, and Performance Management in the Unit under the guidance of the Head of Capacity Building.
  • Facilitate SOP writing, reviews, updates, and training for the Unit, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct orientation programs for new employees, introducing them to Serena Hotels’ brand, culture, values, and service standards.
  • Design customized training programs for the Unit based on identified needs, covering technical and soft skills.
  • Develop and implement the training calendar, including Training of Trainers programs and continuous training for all departments.
  • Coordinate technical skills development programs, follow-ups, and reviews as per the training calendar.
  • Implement e-learning programs and monitor staff utilization and learning progress on online platforms.
  • Coordinate outsourced programs, such as leadership and exposures, upon management approval.
  • Encourage professional certifications and credentials relevant to employees’ roles in the hotel industry.
  • Arrange mentorship programs or coaching for employees needing personalized guidance and support.
  • Deliver agreed leadership and people management programs in the Unit.
  • Assist Department Heads with performance management planning and reviews.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or Hotel Management.
  • Proven experience in talent development within the hospitality industry, preferably in a five-star hotel setting.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and innovative training methodologies.
  • Four years of experience in talent management, training, and development, preferably in the hospitality context.
