Job Summary:  The Team Leader, Food and Cash Based Programs  is responsible for managing the operations needed to support the delivery of sponsor engagement features through a) print production management and b) production team management. This is achieved through the coordination with partners within the organization as well as directly managing a production team that can expand and retract as necessary to meet the business needs. This position also provides leadership to the Child Sponsorship Engagement Team who is responsible for the delivery of over 4 million pieces of rich media and marketing assets to 21 marketing offices globally.

The position reports to the Director, Sponsor Engagement, enabling them to lead and achieve the goals and objectives of the Sponsor Engagement Team effectively.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Grant Acquisition and Management:

  • Support Programs team in technical aspects and budget of FLA design.
  • Use network and connections with WFP to influence the grant acquisition process.
  • Ensure that all reporting to WFP is comprehensive, timely and meets the highest standards.

Representation and Relationships:

  • Build and maintain relationships with Food Assistance, Cash, government and other relevant actors at local, national and international levels.
  • Ensure appropriate WV representation at key fora related to food security, food assistance, or cash assistance for refugees.
  • Have primary responsibility to hold the relationship with WFP in Uganda.

Operational Responsibility:

  • Ensure that all activities under WV’s FLA with WFP are achieved on time and on target.
  • Ensure that WV’s programming meets all internal (FPMG) and external (ie SPHERE, CHS) international standards.
  • Keenly monitor the security situation and, in conjunction with other appropriate managers, implement programming accordingly.
  • Monitor the implementation of food programming in-person.
  • Ensure that project MEAL systems are in place and functional and utilized.

Budget Management:

  • Ensure spending is within appropriate variance levels.
  • Maintain control over project budget.

People Management:

  • Ensure that project is appropriately staffed with enough staff who have relevant skill sets.
  • Create and maintain a culture of dedication, appropriate behavior and service amongst FA staff.
  • Monitor and advocate for staff wellbeing in the field.
  • Swiftly and decisively deal with incidents of staff misbehavior in line with WV policy.
  • Roll-out and continuously emphasize appropriate safeguarding, PSEA and sexual harassment policies.
  • Directly supervise four staff.
  • Indirectly supervise up to 200 staff and over 2000 volunteers.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for the World Vision Team Leader, Food and Cash Based Programs job placement should preferably hold a University degree.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in both humanitarian emergency and community development.
  • Previous experience in developing and implementing all types of food programming (GFD, FFE, FFA, SFP, Cash transfers).
  • Affinity to development.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Proven ability in relating with national staff and governmental authorities.
  • Able to work in a harsh and demanding environment and adaptable to rapidly changing contexts.
  • Able to travel to security-risk areas, as often as 40% of the time.
  • Computer aptitude desirable (MS WORD, EXCEL, Lotus Notes).
  • Ability to lead, plan, and organize.
  • Experience with World Visions Food Programming and Management systems and policies.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Preferred academic background in humanitarian/ refugee affairs, food security or community development.
  • Cross cultural work experience preferred.
