SolarNow is a distribution and finance company that sells high quality solar product and appliances to households and businesses in Uganda. The company started in 2011 and has since opened 36 branches throughout Uganda, employs around 250 people.
Job Summary: The Technical Manager will primarily be responsible for high client satisfaction and quality special installations and services, and ensuring technical manual compliance of staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare for the Management Meeting (with information per staff and branch)
- Management Meeting
- In case of a bad or pending installations the Manager acts as a temporary technician
- Give training to new/existing staff
- Coach and supervise staff, handle HR issues
- Analyze trends
- Work on special projects, if any
- In the field: visit existing clients to identify service issues
- In the field: do installation together with the branch team
- In the branch: Train on-the-job (make attendance list)
- In the branch: check compliance with installation and service policies
Key Result Areas:
- Satisfied Clients: Client Service Satisfaction: 9
- Quick response: Turn over time: <14 days
- Special installations: Service cases: 0
- Closing service cases: Closed cases: based on 36 pp
- Compliance: Exam score of staff: 80%
Authorities:
- Instruct HR to invite staff for a compulsory training
- Instruct HR to issue a warning letter and/or suspend an assigned staff member
- To sign off on a quotation to a client up till 30m UGX
- To request for procurement of materials for special installations of up to 1m UGX
- To propose a policy improvement (in case of flawed policy) or tip (in case of unawareness) to the GM
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the SolarNow Technical Manager job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree level education or above
- A minimum of five years’ experience in electrical engineering
- Strong preference for successful and “coach-oriented” SolarNow staff
- Mature personality
- Good training skills
- Ability to take tough decisions
- Sees big picture, does not get lost in details
