About US:
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAU) is the national professional accountancy body in Uganda, established by the Accountants Act. The Institute also has a mandate to conduct professional accountancy examinations in Uganda. The Institute is mandated to also:
- Regulate and maintain the Standard of Accountancy in Uganda.
- Prescribe and regulate the conduct of accountants and practising accountants in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Technical Officer will be responsible for executing the technical function of the Institute. The Assistant Technical Officer is a key member of the ICPAU team and is expected to understand, support, and promote the objectives of the Technical Department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support in handling technical issues related to the Accountancy Profession.
- Actively participate in the quality assurance programme of the Institute.
- Support the execution of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme.
- Render support in the development and preparation of technical materials.
- Prepare materials for publications
- Build and strengthen working relationships with the Institute’s stakeholders.
- Actively participate in conducting research in accountancy and related areas.
- Take part in the running of the Institute’s events and functions.
- Perform other administrative duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Professional Accountancy Qualification. Possession of a degree is an added advantage.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in auditing or taxation.
- Working knowledge of professional standards and excellent writing skills.
- Excellent communication and computer skills;
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills;
- Be team builders/players;
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
- Be creative, innovative, adaptable and have a passion for quality.
- Excellent command of the English language (both spoken and written);
