Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. UWA was established in 1996 and is managed in accordance with the Wildlife Act Cap 200. The Mission of UWA is: “To Conserve and Sustainably Manage the Wildlife and Protected Areas of Uganda in Partnership with Neighboring Communities and Other Stakeholders for the Benefit of the People of Uganda and the Global Community.”
Job Summary: The Warden Planning (Economist) will mainly ensure timely preparation and submission of budget reports, quarterly performance reports, annual operation work plans in the format that is acceptable to the Authority..
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze data relevant for planning and budgeting purposes.
- Participate in the preparation and formulation of UWA’s budgets and programs in line with the Authority’s strategic plan.
- Coordinate prepare and formulate UWA’s Budget Framework Paper, Ministerial Policy Statement, with clear achievable Annual Operation Plans and in line with the Authority’s strategic programmes.
- Consult with department and unit heads to ensure adjustments are made in accordance with programme changes in order to facilitate long term planning.
- Provide support to the coordination of monitoring and evaluation activities in preparation of quarterly and annual performance reports.
- Ensure that UWA budget is compliant to the Public Financial Management Act 2015 and update the budget monitoring tool for all transaction undertaken.
- Produce budget analytical and performance reports.
- Ensure that UWA Programme Based Budgeting system is up to date and in line with the statutory requirements and timelines.
- Participate in preparation and revision of guidelines, standards and manuals for Protected Areas.
- Participate in the formulation and review of management plans for UWA Protected Areas including the budgeting for the planned activities in the General Management Plans.
- Represent the agency in different internal or external budget meetings as will be required from time to time.
- Perform any other assignments as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) Warden Planning (Economist) job opportunity must hold an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Commerce or Business Administration from a recognized Institution
- A minimum of three years of relevant working experience obtained from a reputable organization doing the same role.
- Experience in budgeting for government programmes or projects is an added advantage.
