Collaborators from University of Florida and Tufts University visited the Vice Chancellor Makerere University, Prof. John Ddumba Ssenate and discussed newly won project, “Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) vaccine associate award”
Makerere University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biosecurity participated (COVAB) in a project write up titled, “Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) vaccine associate award” that was awarded to Feed the future innovations lab for livestock systems at University of Florida/Institute for Food and Agriculture (UF/IFAS). The Principal Investigator at COVAB, Assoc. Prof. Frank Mwiine and Dean School of Biosecurity Biotechnical and Laboratory Sciences will superhead the research purposed to assess innovative approaches to control PPR control using thermostable vaccine and to build capacity to scale the vaccine across a broad region where the disease is endemic.
The vision of the livestock innovations lab is to sustainably intensify smallholder livestock systems in order to improve human nutrition, health and incomes.
