Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing all ICT activities in support to and in close collaboration with the field responsible persons in Kasese, Arua, Yumbe and additional sites as needed; is the primary responsible for all ICT activities in the Kampala office
- Identify and implement information management practices to enhance the mission system’s effectiveness and reliability
- Supervising, implementing and monitoring security management protocols
- Managing inventory, warranties and IT usage of the Mission including carrying out of corrective/preventative maintenance
- Ensuring the proper documentation, filing and the compilation of statistical data on ICT (number of repairs, monitoring and abuse of internet and telephone use, general state of computer parts, etc.) and drafting a quarterly report on activities
- Providing direct support to new users and relevant personnel dealing with information systems and managing user access
- Installing, maintaining and monitoring the ICT systems and equipment in the mission
- MEMO (inventory/maintenance tool) mission focal point
- Monitor / implement and update the use of radio communication in the mission and also coordinate with Ugandan Communications Commissions (UCC)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Information Systems Specialist must hold a Higher Diploma in IT Experience:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in IT
- Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGOs, and working experience in developing countries Knowledge:
- Expertise in operating systems (XP-Pro, W7) and desktop applications (MS Office 2003/2007/2010)
- Good knowledge of computer parts and maintenance, networks and their protocols, main email systems (Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Lotus), IT Security Tools (Anti-virus, Firewall, Anti-spyware, back-ups)
- Understanding of telecommunication systems and educational tools
- Radio communication Skills (HF and VHF)
