Uganda Coffee Development Authority is established as a public Authority, and its mandate is to promote and oversee the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling coffee quality, and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimize foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to the farmers. Job Summary:   The Regional Manager will manage all UCDA operations at the Region in respect to coffee extension, transfer of technologies, quality assurance, market intelligence and information dissemination to stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate, link and liaise with DLGs, Civic leaders, coffee research scientists and other coffee development partners and stakeholders.
  • Supervise and give technical guidance to Regional Coffee Extension Officers, Regional Coffee Technical Officers, and Monitoring and Evaluation teams.
  • Monitor the implementation of seed and seedlings’ distribution procedures in line with the PPDA accredited Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Plan, budget and manage all UCDA resources in the Region.
  • Oversee coffee quality and enforcement of coffee regulations in the Region.
  • Oversee the implementation of programs and activities related to data collection on coffee markets and information dissemination to stakeholders in the Region.
  • Liaise with DLGs and implement provision of coffee specific extension programs through the single spine extension delivery system.
  • Train and mentor Staff at the Region.
  • Consolidate the region’s field reports and compile monthly reports on outputs and impact of UCDA activities in the region and submit them to the Directorate for review and guidance.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by Management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the Uganda Coffee Development Authority Regional Manager job must hold a Bachelors Honours degree in any one of the following disciplines: Agriculture; Agriculture and Rural Innovation; Agribusiness Management; Agriculture Land Use and Management; Agricultural Engineering.
  • Post graduate Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, or Agricultural Engineering, or Agriculture and Rural Innovation, or Agribusiness Management, or Agriculture Land use and Management, or Agricultural Economics or relevant discipline.
  • At least seven (7) years working experience in an agricultural field, (3) years of which should have been at a supervisory level.
  • Ability to strategize and plan for agricultural production and productivity.
  • Leadership skills.
  • People and Communication skills.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Excellent Computer skills.
