Job Summary: The Driver will be responsible for driving NRC Uganda assigned vehicle within the programme area as well as outside to the programme area as required. The Driver is responsible for keeping the assigned vehicle clean and safe, drive safely and respect all passengers. S/he is also expected to adhere the policy of the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive NRC Uganda vehicles to give service to NRC staff as required and given schedule by the Fleet Assistant.
- Always carry out basic security checks on the vehicles that he/she uses before starting driving and at the end of the day. (battery water, fuel & oil levels, radiator water, Tyre pressure/condition, etc.)
- Ensure the vehicle meets the maintenance schedule and should inform the Fleet Assistant of any faults as and they occur.
- Maintain neat & accurate record of all journeys in the vehicle log book.
- Carry out the daily vehicle check and inventory.
- Report immediately any damage or accident to the Fleet Assistant following correct procedures in the case of the accident, incident or complaints
- Responsible for the collection, storage, transport and final delivery of all goods in his/her vehicle
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold O Level Certificate with basic vehicle maintenance training/knowledge.
- A minimum of valid driving licenses – A, B, DL
- Good command of English language
- Excellent command of any of the languages in West Nile and Swahili
- Willing to travel to remote areas and to camp in the field, ability to work flexibly including weekends and willingness to travel and work in both urban (city) and rural locations and live in basic conditions.
- Very good knowledge and application of the country’s as well as organization’s Driving, Road Transport & Traffic regulations
