Job Summary: The Talent Acquisition and Retention Specialist will manage all stages of the employee life cycle including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, career development, retention and transition. You will contribute to strategic workforce planning and needs assessment processes, develop the recruitment strategy, manage the recruitment process, ensure that staffing needs of the company are met, devise and implement sourcing strategies, create, and implement end-to-end candidate hiring process and facilitate onboarding processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs in different areas and departments
- Determine selection criteria for candidates by liaising with managers and other members of staff
- Source applicants through online channels, such as LinkedIn and other professional networks
- Create job descriptions and interview questions that reflect the requirements for positions
- Identify and refine down the most suitable talent from available candidates
- Plan interview and selection procedures, including screening calls, assessments, and in-person interviews – if possible
- Assess candidates’ information, including C.Vs., portfolios and references
- Organize and attend job fairs and recruitment events to build a strong candidate pipeline
- Keep records of all materials used for recruitment, including interview notes and related paperwork, to share with key stakeholders
- Gathering qualitative retention data by conducting and analyzing employee surveys and/or stay interviews
- Building employee networks/committees
- Serving as an employee ambassador for staff to ask questions and provide feedback
- Ensuring the onboarding process is welcoming, thorough and incorporates the company culture
- Determining gaps where additional supervisor/management training is needed
- Analyzing compensation and scheduling for models that better align with today’s workforce’s needs
- Developing innovative opportunities for advancement and career paths for workers
- Implementing recognition and appreciation programs across the organization
- Ascertaining ways the organization and managers can be more transparent with employees
- Developing effective staff meeting schedules, agendas and tools for those leading meetings
- Revamping the interview process, selection criteria and applicant communication plan
- Creating more realistic job preview opportunities for candidates
- Improving the employer brand outside the organization within the community
- Working with all leaders to make the organization a better place to work
- Perform any other official duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management
- Three to five years of experience in talent acquisition, proficiency in applicant tracking systems, and ability to devise sourcing strategies for potential applicants.
- Ability to maintain the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access and Microsoft Outlook.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.
- Ability to organize tasks simultaneously, prioritize work and ensure tasks are completed by deadline
- Honest, reliable and trustworthy.
- Willing to adhere to and implement the ITSL rules.
- Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, able to work under pressure and manage personal stress
- Substantial knowledge of Uganda employment law / labor laws.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus fluency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
Desirable:
- Experience with full-cycle recruiting, using various interview techniques and evaluation methods
- Experience in using LinkedIn Talent Solutions to proactively source candidates
- Proficiency in documenting processes and keeping up with industry trends
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
