BLL is a private limited company established in April 2013, located at Plot 1661, Kakajjo zone, Bweyogerere Link Road, Wakiso.
Job Purpose: The Data Specialist will be responsible for the overall data quality assurance and optimizing the value and application of data for decision making in the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Data analytics and performance reporting
- Apply advanced data science, statistical and predictive modelling techniques to build, maintain, and improve on multiple real-time decision systems.
- Conduct end-to-end data mining against specific processes and activities to identify and treat any identified gaps. Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
- Facilitate desired productivity and quality performance from team and stakeholders, based on defined KPIs.
- Report to management on the progress of data quality improvement and help resolve data quality problems through appropriate process design strategies, as well as error detection, correction tests and procedures.
- Develop and maintain performance dashboards and scorecards for the organization.
Data and information management
- Partner with process owners to develop and adhere to policy and procedure manuals, standard systems, and methods for managing business processes, enable sustainable improvements in business results.
- Develop and continuously check the organization’s data privacy policy or monitor compliance of data process flows against data quality standards.
- Store and retrieve data from a data base, organize it in a logical and functional manner.
- Create flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate how data is stored and how tables relate to each other.
- Link dashboards and scorecards to data base reports.
Strategic planning
- Recommend actions for improving the organizations performance based on evidence-based analysis of the performance metrics and other business intelligence tools.
- Conduct market analysis and maintain a database of industry statistics to provide up-to-date information for decision making.
- Support the Strategy Development and Review process. This entails coordinating the information and stakeholder needs in a coherent manner to develop and/or review the organizations long-term strategic objectives.
- Performance Management. Oversee reporting of the organization’s performance in relation to the long-term strategic objectives to enable corrective interventions to be put in place in a timely manner.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Health Informatics, Software Engineering or Computer Science, or any other highly numerical degree attained from a recognized institution.
- Formal Training or Certification from a recognized institution in one of the following: Data Science, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics and Big Data (completed or enrolled) is an added advantage.
- At least two years of proven experience in developing and maintaining data management systems.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization algorithms.
- Algorithmic and structured thinking
- Excellent programming skills, preferably; Java, Python, R-programming, SQL
- Knowledge of machine learning and big data techniques
- Excel power user
- Results oriented.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage dynamic team.
