Job Title:   Accounts and Administrative Assistant

Duty Station:   Kampala, Uganda

Reports to:  Technical Advisor Demand Creation

About US:

German Leprosy and TB Relief Association (GLRA) is a registered non-profit organization with its headquarters in Wurzburg, Germany. The organization was founded in 1957 and currently has 59 member countries. The organization operates worldwide with more than 200 full-time employees both in German and member countries. GLRA focuses on Tuberculosis, Leprosy and other Neglected Tropical diseases (NTDs) including emergency aid in countries where GLRA already exists. In 2014, GLRA integrated Humanitarian aid, Inclusion and Research activities in its core mandate.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Cash management in accordance with the general accounting standards and principles and donor regulations.
  • Establish and maintain physical and computerized (Winpaccs) cashbooks.
  • Do daily reconciliations.
  • Prepare and manage all financial documents as deemed by the GLRA system.
  • Ensure compliance of the overall administration and accounting, office organization and procedures, practices, documentation and filing, with the Ugandan Accounting standards, National obligations and legal requirements.
  • Check the accuracy, completeness and consistency of information in administrative documentation.
  • Handle monthly staff salary payments, taxes and social security deductions.
  • Assist in all other secretarial work and office communication, e.g preparation of letters and documents.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration majoring in Accounting or Finance).
  • At least three years of experience is required. Experience working with an NGO is of added advantage.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge in Winpaccs cashbook system is an added advantage.
  • Responsible and able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
