About US:
The National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) was established by the Animal Breeding Act, 2001. It is one of the statutory semi-autonomous bodies of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF). Formation of NAGRC &DB was part of the fulfilment of the aspirations in the National Animal Breeding Policy (1997), document and the Action Plan for its implementation providing guidelines to all actors in the animal breeding and production value-chain. The actors included input suppliers, farmers, companies, researchers, extension workers and civic leaders on suitable breeds for the various ecological and production systems.
Job Summary: The Assistant Manager Planning will provide technical planning support and carry out Economic Policy engagements review and monitoring progress of day-to-day Economic activities of the institution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Undertakes macro-economic analysis and forecasting for the centre.
- Coordinates the implementation of planned activities.
- Maintains a statistical database to support budgeting process analysis and forecasting.
- Reviews development policies, strategies, projects and programmes prepared at the centre.
- Coordinates NAGRC & DB development plans.
- Participates in the analysis of national and sector development policies, plans and public expenditure programs.
- Coordinates the participation of departments/Units in the development planning and budgeting process.
- Coordinate and participates in Resource Mobilisation for the organization
- Coordinates activities to bolster strategic partnerships and networks
- Any other activities assigned by Executive Director and the Board
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant should have a Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics , Quantitative Economics or any other related degree from a recognized University/Institution, plus
- Postgraduate training in project planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, Economics, Statistics or Quantitative Economics from a recognized University/Institution.
- Working experience of at least Eight (8) years gained at the level of an Economist/Planner in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
- Thorough familiarity with principles and current approaches to planning, monitoring and evaluation of development programs using both quantitative and qualitative methods
- Expertise in data analysis using NVivo8, SPSS, Epi Data, Atlas, etc.
