Consultant Opportunity: Establishing DIGNITY Office in Uganda

DIGNITY, a Danish human rights and development organization, is seeking a consultant to assist in establishing a branch office in Kampala, Uganda. This consultancy offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the global fight against torture and the promotion of human rights.

About the Role:

The consultant will play a pivotal role in setting up DIGNITY’s office in Kampala, ensuring compliance with Ugandan laws, and building strong partnerships and programs. The role will also involve representing DIGNITY in relevant meetings and events, both in Uganda and potentially regionally.

Consultancy Scope of Work:

  • Assisting in establishing a physical office space in Kampala.
  • Ensuring compliance with Ugandan law for NGO operations.
  • Setting up a financial system in Uganda in alignment with DIGNITY’s system in Copenhagen.
  • Supporting DIGNITY in building up projects and identifying new partners in Uganda.
  • Providing strategic insights on contextual challenges, human rights situations, and funding opportunities in Uganda.

Duration of the Contract:

  • 8 months consultancy with a possible extension and/or full-time employment.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • A university degree in social sciences, human rights, law, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in administration, NGO development, or humanitarian work.
  • Five years of experience in human rights/development work in Uganda.
  • Experience in developing and implementing large development programs.
  • Project management skills, including monitoring, evaluation, budget follow-up, and reporting.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and team-playing abilities.

Work Conditions:

  • Based in Kampala, with travels to project areas.
  • Reporting to the Deputy Director of International Programme in Copenhagen.
