About US Embassy:

The United States Embassy in Kampala, Uganda, has maintained diplomatic relations with Uganda for over 30 years. Ambassador Natalie E. Brown currently leads the U.S Mission to Uganda, which comprises several offices and organizations operating under the Embassy’s auspices and direction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communications (45% of the time):
    • Serve as the Communications Advisor to the DRG office, producing technical documents for stakeholders.
    • Respond to information requests from USAID DC headquarters.
    • Draft success stories, technical documents, and conduct capacity building in communications.
  • Program Implementation, Monitoring, and Oversight (30% of the time):
    • Serve as an Activity Manager for DRG activities, liaising with implementers and overseeing awards.
    • Participate in work planning, review deliverables, monitor progress, and track spending.
  • Strategy Development (25% of the time):
    • Ensure alignment of DRG activities with the USAID/Uganda Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS).
    • Monitor DRG office progress towards approved M&E plans and draft program progress reports.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience in development, program management, or communications.
  • Understanding of development programs, preferably in democracy, human rights, or governance.
  • Experience with USAID or other multilateral/bilateral organizations.
  • Proficiency in English language (Level IV).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to draft high-level technical documents and reports.
  • Proficiency in standard computer programs.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and project management skills.
  • Diplomacy, tact, and ability to work under pressure.
