Uganda Christian University (UCU), a private institution founded in 1997 by the Province of the Church of Uganda is dedicated through teaching, scholarship, service, spiritual formation, student development and social involvement, to the preparation of students for thoughtful, productive lives of Christian faith and service in their respective professions and places.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the BBUC administration in developing relations with Development Partners abroad and in Uganda.
- Assist the University College Administration in planning and proposing areas of development in the College, plus the pertinent human resources and infrastructure.
- Assist the administration in writing proposals for development that need and can attract donor funding.
- Assist administration in “marketing” those proposals both in Uganda and outside.
- Co-ordinates and monitor on-going development projects in the University.
- Participate in the spiritual and social life of the BBUC Community as well as creating partnerships with dioceses and churches.
- Develop strategies to work with BBUC stakeholders including alumni, parents, and employers for funding and other development.
- Report to donors on project progress and finances
- Reports to the Planning and development Committee and Board of the University.
- Any other official duties as may be assigned by the Principal-BBUC.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelors Degree in Development Economics, development studies, Business Administration, Project Planning and Management, Public Administration and Management, Communications, English, Journalism, Education, Social Sciences or a related field.
- A Masters degree OR Post graduate Diploma in Civil Engineering, Project Planning and Management, Monitoring and Evaluation or Grants Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Education, Journalism, Communications or related field will be added advantage.
- Proven work experience of at least 2 years in writing successful grant proposals and reports to both government and private funding sources.
- Principles, with proven analytical, interpretative abilities and report writing skills.
- Must be a person of high integrity and self-driven.
- Must be a team leader and a person of affable character.
- Exposure to working under pressure with strict adherence to deadlines.
- Must have effective interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Must have budgetary skills and analysis capabilities.
- Must be client service oriented and have sound conflict management and time management skills.
- Must have good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be a committed and practicing Christian with a demonstrable testimony.
