Job Summary:
The Research Officer – Agronomist will be instrumental in planning, designing, and conducting research related to agronomy for enhancing sustainable agricultural production. This role involves farmer participatory research, data analysis, developing crop and soil management technologies, and disseminating research findings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement farmer participatory research for crop commodity systems.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from agronomy and on-farm research trials.
- Determine efficient cropping systems for optimum crop production.
- Develop nutrient management strategies for various crops.
- Create gender-responsive crop and soil management technologies to increase crop yield without depleting soil resources.
- Study the impact of weeds, diseases, and pests on crop yield and develop management strategies.
- Collaborate on the multiplication of early-generation seeds.
- Disseminate research findings through various platforms and collaborate on the development of training materials.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Soil Science or Crop Science with a bias in Agronomy.
- Minimum of three years of relevant work experience with a proven publication record in refereed journals.
- PhD holders will have an added advantage.
- Age Limit: Not more than 55 years.
