Kyagalanyi Coffee Ltd is a leading coffee procurement, processing and marketing company in Uganda. In 2009, the company exported over 510,000 bags of coffee, each weighing 60 kg. This represented approximately 16% of all the country’s coffee export that year, totaling 3.2 million bags. The coffee was sold primarily the European Union, Japan, Australia and South Sudan. The company also markets directly to the major international coffee roasting companies. Kyagalanyi Coffee Ltd. is part of the Volcafe group and is one of the leading exporters in Uganda. Volcafe, is one of the world’s largest traders of arabica and robusta coffees and provides beans for 50 billion cups of coffee each year.
Job Summary: The Trader will work closely with the trading team to support on all commercial activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with the General Manager and Commercial Department this position will be responsible for managing contracts, daily positions and fixations.
- Responsible for building, maintaining and developing strong client relationships in order to grow new and existing business opportunities.
- Liaise closely with other departments such as Logistics, Quality and Production in order to ensure client needs are met and contracts fulfilled on time, every time.
- Keenly monitor the daily global and domestic market in order to make sound decisions and recommendations on pricings to suppliers, clients and Senior Management.
- Responsible for managing futures and contracts.
- Responsible for ensuring regular communication between departments and with clients to build a solution focused relationship.
- Provide support and guidance to ensure compliance with all market regulations and adherence to internal control processes
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At least two to three years of relevant experience in futures trading operations (preferably soft commodities)
- Proven experience of commodity futures, physicals trading, hedging strategies and market risk
- Knowledge and experience of the commodity markets for both exchange listed products and OTC derivatives (Swaps, Options)
- Good awareness of compliance best practices, regulation and solid experience in managing compliance paper trails ensuring that key documents are completed to the relevant standard
- Ability to perform accurate calculations and analyse P&L transactions
- Comprehensive understanding of key business processes within Finance and Operations including balance sheet substantiation, reconciliations, and risk control
- Ability to work well under pressure with a proactive can do attitude.
- Must be numerate with strong I.T. skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel (ITAS would be an advantage)
