Salary: USD 400 per month

Good Neighbors is an international, non-profit humanitarian organization committed to child education, community development, and emergency relief projects in 30 countries around the world. We have fundraising offices in the USA, Korea, and Japan, and an International Cooperation Office in Geneva. Good Neighbors USA opened its Los Angeles office in 2007, which currently handles fundraising, donor management, volunteer programs, and marketing campaigns for all major projects. In December 2010, a Washington D.C. office was established to network and partner with other organizations, as well as obtain grants from U.S. government agencies and foundations.

Job Summary:  The Finance Assistant will facilitate the efficient and effective financial operation of KOICA Project. She/he will ensure compliance with all GNIUG Financial Policies alongside donor policies, procedures, guidelines and rules. She/he will seek and receive policy guidance/ instructions and support from Administration Manager on their respective areas of responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

 Finance Roles

  • Provide support in the preparation of the budget.
  • Implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Establish the Fund requirements, and maintain adequate cash levels in the bank and submits cash flow forecast every 30th of the month to the Administration Manager
  • Makes Bank payments, process approved payments of supplier / service provider invoices on the basis of complete documentation
  • Responsible for the management of Monthly cash books
  • Prepares weekly cashbooks’ with complete documentations for the entire project for review by Administration manager before sharing with the Country Director every Friday of the week
  • Provides the financial review of all Budget Requests (BR) and Request for payments in accordance to the set limit in the GNIUG financial Policies
  • Ensure month end cash counts are properly done and reconcile
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Ensure copies of project files and related documents are correctly filled
  • Keep copies of all documents submitted to Country Director in file for reference in softcopy.
  • Monitor project budgets closely and advice program Manager/Project coordinators on any issues of concern.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly and annual GNIUG and donor reports preparation
  • Confirm that full accountabilities (documentations) are obtained for all expenditures and validity of claims all financial claims
  • Supporting administration manager to adequately prepare for independent audits
  • Responsible for banking activities
  • Ensure the safeguarding of all available funds
  • Reconcile the accounts payables
  • Reconcile the accounts receivables/advances and Issue receipts for all the funds received.
  • Ensure contracts are respected and paid for according to agreed terms of payments.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
  • Uphold the GNIUG’s Code of Conduct.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold a university degree (Business Administration, Commerce,) or its equivalent
  • A minimum of two years of experience in similar position
  • Proven ability to understand and use basic accounting systems such as QuickBooks,
  • Have a strong aspiration and interest in humanitarian and community development works
  • Skills in administration
  • Good working knowledge and skill of computer
  • Previous experience in communications, humanitarian and government policy issues.
  • Ability to communicate in a diplomatic and assertive manner
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills
  • Able to work gracefully under pressure; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Must possess good skills for conflicts and Conflict resolutions.
  • Must be a self-directed, self-reliant and a person of High Integrity
  • Able to move away from home for long distances for organizational activities
