About US:
The Law Development Centre (LDC) has a mandate to provide legal education to lawyers and non-lawyers, undertake research in topical legal issues, contribute to legal reform, produce legal publications, teaching materials, law reports and also provide community legal services.
Job Summary: The incumbent will guard, patrol, or monitor Centre premises to prevent theft, violence or violation of rules.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patrol Centre premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion.
- Ensure security of doors, windows and glasses.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors and other persons.
- Conducting periodic fire drills for all LDC Staff.
- Conduct Staff Evacuations in the event of emergency.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as for equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences.
- Call police in cases of emergency such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Circulate among visitors, patrons and employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when the switch board is closed.
- Warn persons of rule violation, and apprehend or evict violators from premises using force where necessary.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Law Development Centre (LDC) Security Guard job must hold a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education.
- Must have attended security training from a reputable institution.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience from a reputable security organization.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Time management.
- Loyalty.
- High level of physical fitness.
