Job Summary:
The Senior Assessment Officer will play a crucial role in implementing IMPACT’s research cycles in Uganda, particularly focusing on Area-Based Assessments (ABAs) related to urban refugees in secondary cities. This role involves overseeing research design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination, ensuring research contributes effectively to strategic response objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and follow-up of research cycles, ensuring efficient project and resource management.
  • Stay updated with the evolving context in Uganda to inform research and analysis.
  • Lead the development and implementation of analytical workstreams, ensuring high-quality research output.
  • Promote capacity building within IMPACT Uganda, focusing on enhancing analytical skills.
  • Manage and train research staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Engage in both internal and external coordination to align IMPACT’s research with broader humanitarian objectives and strategies.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., international studies, development, data science).
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a humanitarian setting, with a strong background in assessments, monitoring and evaluation, and research.
  • Proven research skills, including quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Familiarity with the aid system and humanitarian coordination forums.
  • Experience in using statistical analysis software (R, SPSS, STATA) is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work in complex and challenging environments.
  • Previous experience in the region and fluency in English are required.
