Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) is an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization registered with the Uganda NGO Board and is committed to improving the quality of life of orphans and other vulnerable children.
About USAID ICYD Activity:
The USAID Integrated Child and Youth Development Activity (USAID ICYD Activity) aims to improve learning outcomes, advance HIV epidemic control in Uganda, and ensure that children and youth can lead resilient, healthy, and productive lives. The USAID ICYD Activity will deliver critical HIV/GBV/violence prevention and response services to children and youth and their families in communities, clinics, and schools. Within USAID’s Journey to Self-Reliance Framework, USAID ICYD Activity will build the operational and technical capacity of four Ugandan Primary Local Partner (PLP) organizations to become direct recipients of USG funding within two years while strengthening government capacity to deliver core services to children within an integrated referral network and case management system.
Job Summary: The Driver will be responsible for facilitating project officers to the field for project implementation as per the approved travel plans. He/he will also be responsible for vehicle maintenance and fuel accountability. The Driver will report to the Program Accountant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will drive project staff and other authorized persons to and from various points.
- Observe and adhere to the safety precautions before and during driving.
- Maintain proper vehicle mileage and usage records as per requirements.
- Conduct daily condition checks to ensure that the vehicle is in good running order.
- Keep the vehicle in a clean condition to uphold the image of the organization.
- Deliver and collect mails and other documents to and from various offices as required.
- Pick and deliver UWESO visitors and any other staff who is authorized to travel in the UWESO vehicle.
- Maintain punctuality and courtesy and adhere to traffic laws and regulations.
- Always maintain confidentially of UWESO information while executing duties.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold an Ordinary Level Certificate of Education.
- A clean and valid Driving Permit for classes preferably CM and DL.
- Certificate of Motor Vehicle Mechanics from a recognized School
- Certificate in Defensive Driving.
- Five years of driving Experience for NGO.
- Computer literacy and documentation skills are a must.
- Availability and willingness to work extra hours when required.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication Skills.
