About US:
The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases through research and capacity development. IDI has six operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment, Global Health Security, Training, Research, Laboratory services (including the CAPcertified IDI Core Lab) and Outreach.
Job Summary: The Office Assistant assists in providing support for general office operations, including maintaining the office premises clean. In addition, he/she will assist the project logistics and Document control officer as need may arise.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivers and collects documents, supplies and paper work as directed
- Keep office area clean and tidy working environment
- Switch off electrical appliances when not in use
- Prepare outgoing mail for distribution and faxes, scans and copies documents
- Maintain office filing and storage systems and updates and maintains databases such as mailing lists, contact lists and client information
- Retrieve information when requested
- Perform work related errands as requested
- Assist the laboratory logistics and Document control officer as need may arise
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At least three years’ office management experience
- Competent computer skills including MS office or equivalent
- Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and data collection
- Numeracy and literacy skills
- Good/Excellent skills in: work management and prioritizing, verbal and written communication, problem solving ability, paying attention to detail, accuracy, flexibility, reliability and teamwork
