Job Summary: The Data Analyst/Economist under the overall supervision of the ECTAD Country Team Leader and in close consultation with the ASL2050 focal point will:
- Assist the ECTAD team in identifying key stakeholders along one selected livestock value chain;
- Participate in the preparation and validation of semi-structured interviews aiming at understanding stakeholders’ behavior, constraints preventing compliance with good practices and possible actionable instruments addressing them;
- Conduct interviews with key stakeholders identified;
- Collect and analyze the data obtained from the interviews;
- Assist the ECTAD team in drafting the three major reports mentioned above (Stakeholders’ behavior and good practices; Constraint analysis; Actionable instruments);
- Support other activities of the ECTAD team and the FAO country office as necessary
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Map and select stakeholders along the selected livestock value chain
- Contribute to draft and validate a survey on stakeholders’ current behavior versus good practices
- Implement the survey on stakeholders’ current behavior, including data analysis and reporting
- Contribute to draft and validate a survey to identify constraints preventing stakeholders’ compliance with good practices
- Implement the survey on stakeholders’ constraints, including data analysis and reporting.
- Contribute to draft and validate a survey on actionable policy instruments addressing identified key constraints
- Implement the survey on actionable policy instruments, including data analysis and reporting.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Data Analyst/Economist job opportunity should hold a University Degree or technical specialization or equivalent in economics, statistics, development studies, social science, business administration, information or related field
- Excellent knowledge of statistical software (e.g. Stata, R)
- At least three years of work experience
- Past experience with survey design / data collection will be considered an asset
- Working knowledge of English
- Nationals of Uganda
