We envision a society in which people are fully empowered to manage their health and development needs. UDHA is Sub Recipient to TASO under the new funding model implemented in partnership with TASO and aims to support the implementation of Uganda’s Response to the HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis.

Job Summary:  The Project Officer will spearhead projects implementation of activities  in  the district of operation and manager of teams and resources attached to project in a district.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Coordination, planning, reporting and ability to actively support project teams to manage competing work priorities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly work Plans and Budgets
  • Supervise and mentor frontline stakeholders like the VHTs, Mentors, Community champions etc. to deliver desired project results.
  • Ensure proper utilization and accountability for all resources allocated to activities in Compliance with the approved donor budget and work Plans.
  • Represent UDHA in the Sector Working Groups at district levels
  • Build sound and mutually respectable relations with the communities and stakeholders served by the project.
  • Develop and deliver project progress reports, requirements, documentation, and presentations.
  • Hold performance reviews in the districts of operation.
  • Co-ordinate projects meetings in district of operation
  • Liaise with project stakeholders in areas of operations.
  • Plan for resources needed to achieve project goals
  • Implement and coordinate the daily project activities
  • Maintain regular contact with partners and project beneficiaries in the districts
  • And any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor and/or management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The job applicant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social sciences/Social works and social Administration, Public Health, Community Psychology and any professional training in Humanities
  • A Post Graduate Diploma in either Project planning and Management or Monitoring and Evaluation will be an added advantage. Training in Adolescent sexual reproductive Health, Counselling training, HIV/AIDs are highly desirable.
  • High level of integrity.
  • The suitable candidate must have at least 3 years working experience in donor funded. Experience of working in the rural community.
  • Motorcycle riding skills a requirement (Attach a copy of the riding permit)
  • Presentation, facilitation and training skills
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Analytical and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work with adolescence and young people especially girl child
  • Good communication skills and positive attitude to team work
  • Good computer skills in MS office and Basic internet applications.
  • Knowledge of programme management standards, tools and techniques applicable to the project.
  • Self-motivated, ability to use own initiative, flexibility.
  • Decision making Sound judgment and the confidence to take independent action;
  • A high degree of initiative and persistence combined with high levels of discretion and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Ability to work multi task and meet tight deadlines on a regular basis.
  • And any other duties as assigned to you from time to time by the immediate supervisors.
  • Must have a Valid riding permit and able to ride motorcycles.
