Job Summary: The Information Systems (IS) Audit Manager will plan, review and co-ordinate the execution of information systems audit assignments allocated by the Head of Internal Audit from time to time and prepare audit reports, identify emerging risks in line with the Audit Manual, Institute of Internal Auditors’ Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), ISACA guidelines, ITIL guidelines, Bank policies & procedures, Business Plan and applicable laws and regulations and where appropriate, “best practice”.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct audits of the banks IT Governance, IT infrastructure, networks, data bases, IT security, support activities/help desk operations, contracts, IT project management, management of IT assets, incident and problem management, operating system controls.
- Review indirect controls (staffing, administration, leave management and training among others).
- Review and assess the bank’s integrated risk management framework in respect to technology/IT/Cyber risk.
- Review the adequacy of the bank’s IT policies and procedures.
- Support the Head of Internal Audit in ensuring adequate implementation of the annual audit plans to deliver risk focused and value added audits.
- Develop and implement Quality Assurance Improvement Programs to ensure audit services continue to offer value added services.
- Make recommendations and advice to Board and management for improving management controls and risk management.
- Meet with auditees at all levels, to discuss audit reports and make recommendations to resolve audit findings requiring corrective action.
- Supervise and mentor junior audit staff to ensure timely implementation of approved audit plan.
- Conduct fraud investigations within the bank and create staff awareness to risk management to minimize the risks and the associated financial losses.
- Certify statutory returns to Bank of Uganda so as to ensure accuracy and avoid penalties to the Bank.
- Follow up on outstanding recommendations from the previous Internal Audit Reports, External Auditor’s findings, BOU onsite examination and previous investigation reports.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants for the Orient Bank Information Systems (IS) Audit Manager job placement must hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business related field with a minimum of a second class lower.
- A Full professional certification in accountancy, risk and auditing (CISA, CRP, CIA, ACCA, CPA, AC A etc.)
- At least five years of cognate experience in IT audit, IT risk or IT operations.
- Broad knowledge of the principles of computer technology and system audit.
- IT Auditing and general accounting knowledge.
- Knowledgeable in IT security, analytical and Investigation skills & Comprehensive Banking Operations.
- General Multi Corporate Finance and Financial Strategy Knowledge.
- Fraud and Operational risk knowledge.
- Ability to prepare concise oral and written reports.
- Banking, Insurance, Capital Markets, Trusteeship, Pension Fund and financial services Knowledge.
- Policy and Regulatory Interpretation skill and Implementation capability.
