International Human Rights Scholarships

International Human Rights Scholarships: The International Human Rights Network (IHRN) delivers annual training programmes on human rights based approaches and on human rights fieldwork.

These programmes are aimed at building the capacity of civil society activists, government, donor and UN development officials from around the world.

IHRN offers a limited number of scholarships to enable suitably qualified persons to participate.

What is covered by the Scholarship:

The overall value of the IHRN Scholarship is approximately 3,000 euro. This is comprised of:

 

  • Programme Training fees of 1,675euro (covering tuition, materials and lunch during the programme).
  • Up to 1,000 euro towards the cost of a return economy class flight to Ireland.
  • Accommodation and breakfast in on-campus accommodation during the programme.
  • Visa fee to enter Ireland and transit visa application fee (where relevant).
  • Allowance of 200 euro for incidental expenses (such as ground transport to/from airports).Scholarship candidates must meet the general selection criteria and submit the documentation outlined below.General Scholarship Selection Criteria:
  • An IHRN Scholarship is designed for an individual from a non-OECD country, an individual activist or someone working with a civil society organisation in an area relevant to the training programme.
  • IHRN scholarships are not generally offered to officials of inter-governmental organisations or state bodies.Documentation Required:A complete scholarship application is comprised of:

    a) Your completed application form for the specific training programme and

    b) Your up-to-date curriculum vitae, and

    c) Your personal statement outlining how you propose to apply the knowledge gained from the training programme and why you feel you merit a scholarship (maximum 500 words).

    Applicants who are not offered an IHRN Scholarship may be offered a place on the training programme and a letter provided in support of fundraising from other sources.
