United Nations International Law Fellowship Programme

The Programme will cover the fellowship recipient’s travel costs in economy class as well as medical insurance, the training material and the registration fee for The Hague Academy of International Law.

In accordance with policies and procedures governing the administration of United Nations fellowships, participants will receive a stipend to cover their living expenses.

Accommodation will also be provided by the Programme.

The Fellowship Programme takes place in the Peace Palace in The Hague/Netherlands from June – August every year.

The fellowships are intended to enable qualified professionals, in particular mid-level government officials and young university teachers of international law, from least developed and developing countries as well as from countries with economies in transition to acquire additional knowledge of international law and of the legal work of the United Nations and its associated bodies.

The United Nations International Law Fellowship Programme will be conducted in the form of seminars and debates to allow a maximum of exchange of views. Certificates will be awarded to the fellowship participants who have completed the Programme.

To qualify for the fellowship, candidates must be between 24 and 40 years old.

They should be law graduates with practical experience in the field of international law acquired by working for a publicor private organization or a university.

Candidates will have to certify that they are able to attend the entire Programme period. The Programme will accommodate up to 24 fellowships.
